Product Information

Cost-efficient fluorescent size standards for ABI Genetic Analyzers

Format

The Orange-500 DNA Size Standard is for use with five-dye or six-dye spectral calibration Genetic Analyzers, such as 3130, 3500 and 3730 and SeqStudio™ series.

The Orange-500 DNA Size Standard is a fluorescent labeled ultra-accurate internal size standard for the reproducible sizing of fragment analysis peaks during capillary electrophoresis and precise DNA fragment size comparisons between capillary electrophoresis runs.

Compatibility

This fluorescent size standard can be used for a variety of applications like Microsatellites, MLPA, Fragment Length analysis, Fragment Length Polymorphisms etc. Each of the DNA fragments is labeled with a LIZ® compatible fluorophore resulting in sharp orange peaks under denaturing conditions.

Radboud University & NimaGen: Genetic technique reveals pathogens much more accurately

''‘For example, in the Netherlands we monitor coronavirus in hospitals and wastewater, but we can easily expand that to other pathogens’, Coolen says. ‘In addition, we already apply this technique weekly in clinical diagnostics to detect so-called non-tuberculosis mycobacteria, a growing medical problem.''   ''Especially when looking for tiny amounts of a pathogen's DNA in a sea of contamination, such as in wastewater. Jordy Coolen, a PhD student at Radboud university medical center, came up with several solutions to implement sequencing in routine care. His work also included a collaboration with the company NimaGen. With relatively simple steps and lower costs, he was able to very sensitively analyze the genome of microorganisms.''   Link to Radboud University collaboration article: https://www.radboudumc.nl/en/news-items/2023/genetic-technique-reveals-pathogens-much-more-accurately
