BrilliantDye™ Terminator (v3.1) Cycle Sequencing Kit provides the reagents (BrilliantDye Terminator, 5x sequencing buffer, pGEM control, M13 control primer) required for Sanger Sequencing reactions, in a ready for use pre-mixed format.


BrilliantDye™ Terminator (v3.1) Cycle Sequencing Kit is conveniently offered in low to medium to high-throughput packaging, ranging from 24, 100, 1,000, and 5,000 to 25,000 reactions respectively.


BrilliantDye™ Terminator Cycle Sequencing kits and associated buffers are widely adopted as proven, high-quality reagents for laboratories using 310, 3100, 3130, 3500, 3730 Series Genetic Analyzers and SeqStudio™.


BrilliantDye™ is developed for performing fluorescence-based cycle sequencing reactions on single-stranded or double-stranded DNA templates, including PCR fragments and plasmids. BrilliantDye™ generates data with uniform peak heights and optimized signal balance to produce long, high-quality reads, as well as highly accurate base assignments.


BrilliantDye™ Terminator v3.1 Cycle Sequencing Kits are a drop-in replacement for BigDye® Terminator v3.1 Cycle Sequencing Kits without having to change protocol, volume, or setting. The products can be used with other products in the Sanger sequencing workflow (e.g. NimaPOP™ or POP™ polymers and buffers) on Applied Biosystems® 3130, 3500, 3730 and SeqStudio™ Flex Genetic Analyzers.

How can I troubleshoot an issue with Sanger Sequencing?

A control primer (M13) and template (pGEM) are provided with each BrilliantDye™ Terminator Cycle Sequencing Kit. These can be run following the BrilliantDye™ protocol and can help you determine whether failed reactions are caused by poor template quality or sequencing reaction failure.

What is the difference between the different versions of BrilliantDye™?

The BrilliantDye™ Terminator v1.1 Cycle Sequencing Kit is designed for specialty applications that require optimal basecalling adjacent to the primer.

The BrilliantDye™ Terminator v3.1. Cycle Sequencing Kit is the method of choice for longest reads.

For sequencing through G- and GT-rich templates, NimaGen offers the dGTP BrilliantDye™ Terminator v1.1 and v3.1 Cycle Sequencing Kits, optimized for challenging sequence templates.

Radboud University & NimaGen: Genetic technique reveals pathogens much more accurately

''‘For example, in the Netherlands we monitor coronavirus in hospitals and wastewater, but we can easily expand that to other pathogens’, Coolen says. ‘In addition, we already apply this technique weekly in clinical diagnostics to detect so-called non-tuberculosis mycobacteria, a growing medical problem.''   ''Especially when looking for tiny amounts of a pathogen's DNA in a sea of contamination, such as in wastewater. Jordy Coolen, a PhD student at Radboud university medical center, came up with several solutions to implement sequencing in routine care. His work also included a collaboration with the company NimaGen.
